Give It 2 Get It #33

“YNX Observes National Children’s Day”

THUNG KHRU, Bangkok, Thailand, 12 January 2020

Back in July, (for Give It 2 Get It #28), Yannix Volunteers visited the Thung Khru District and helped create a scenic backdrop to serve as a Welcoming Point for visitors to the community. Since then the location has become a popular photo spot where tourists check-in and take photos.
Yannix Volunteers, through the “Give It 2 Get It” program, were invited to return to Thung Khru again in January 2020 by Ms. Kusuma Insamaphan, founder/director of the Small and Micro-Community Enterprise (SMCE), to visit the district on the weekend of National Children’s Day, an event for which Yannix served as a main sponsor.
The Thung Khru District is a canal community, so it’s no surprise that one of the day’s first activities was the Rowing “Competition for Garbage Collection” featuring twelve (12) boats/kayaks. The event is a boat race that takes place along the canal where the children in the vessels were tasked with collecting trash as they rowed and paddled toward the “Finish Line,” the Darul Ibadah Mosque, where the rest of the day’s events were slated to unfold.
Yannix sponsored three (3) boats and Yannix Volunteers served as rowers/participants in the race. At the conclusion of the race, once everyone had reached the Darul Ibadah Mosque, the participants who had collected the most trash were awarded prizes.
The boat race and the award ceremony were followed by a charity lunch complete with ice-cream for dessert at the Darul Ibadah Mosque. Yannix Volunteers served food and treats to all of the participants.
National Children’s Day coincided with the Opening Ceremony of the Bangmod Canal.

“YNX Shoots Underwater”

NA KLUEA, Chonburi Province, Thailand, 14 December 2019

This event is a followup to Give It 2 Get It #27, which took place back in June 2019. Back in June 2019, Mr. Boon-Ma Kosem and his assistant, Mr. Pasakorn Klongnoi taught a group of Yannix Volunteers how to create/deploy Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs), man-made technology used to attract fish and other aquatic animals to the Na Kluea area.
On Saturday, December 14, YNX Volunteers with experience in underwater photography returned to Na Kluea to capture underwater photos in order to monitor the progress since the deployment of the FADs.
Mr. Somsong “Peak” Jitkawarn led the Volunteers to photoshoot site, but unfortunately the visibility in the seawater on the day was a distance of less than 1 meter.
However, the day wasn’t a total loss as the Volunteers managed to capture underwater images of mussels and other marine life in their element.
The Give It 2 Get It Program is grateful to the Thai Navy SEALs for helping to coordinate the underwater efforts and for providing Volunteers with the necessary SCUBA equipment.

“YNX Goes Back 2 School Again”

KANCHANABURI PROVINCE, Thailand, 24 November 2019
Since 2007, Kor Kon Pan Din is a volunteer group that has worked with schools located outside of the larger city centers that are lacking in resources.
Yannix, through the Give It 2 Get It Program, has been working in cooperation with Kor Kon Pan Din since 2018, and recently, we have been working together more closely to identify schools that are in need.
On Sunday, November 24, Yannix and Kor Kon Pan Din volunteers visited Ban Nong Wai School, a school with 54 students and 3 teachers.
The volunteers were greeted by Miss Payao Salasalin(Director) and Mr. Surawong Klintavorn (Group Leader). The tasks performed on the day were many and related to:
    – Building Maintenance such as cleaning, painting, roofing, and electrical re-wiring.
    – Agricultural Tasks related to planting.
    – Fish Pond Construction/Maintenance.
Local Government Officials and Parents also contributed their time and effort on the day. In addition to the labor provided by the volunteers, Yannix donated lunch, snacks and made a financial contribution to the educational fund for the students.
