YNX Club Corner: ‘Trekking Club’

The YNX Trekking Club has thirty (30) members from across the 2D, 3D, R&D, IT and VFX departments. The club organizes 3-4 excursions per year. Most “treks” have a duration of three days/two nights. To date, the YNX Trekking Club has had five (5) trips together:

1. Phu Toei National Park, Suphan Buri Province. This trek features the tallest peak in the province, Khao Thevada (Angel Mountain), which stands at an elevation of 1,123 metres (3,684 ft.).

2. Phu Soi Dao National Park, Uttaradit Province.

3. Ramkhamhaeng National Park, Khao Luang Mountain. Elevation: 1,200 metres.

4. Mae Moei National Park, Mon Pui Mok, Tak Province. (Trekkers “teased” the wind in the and watched the morning mist at the Moei Basin.)

5. Khao Yai National Park, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Thailand’s first national park, and UNESCO World Heritage Site (since 2005).

Members enjoy taking a break away from the office where together they can enjoy the great outdoors through activities such as hiking, camping, cooking, and stargazing.

YNX In The Local Community”

THUNG KHRU, Bangkok, Thailand, 20 July 2019

Thung Khru (aka Bangmod) is famous for its agriculture, and in particular, the special “Bangmod Oranges” that are grown there. Sadly, the Thung Khru Community has been slow to recover from the devastating floods that hit Thailand back in 1995. Since then, the orange crop has suffered and overall tourism has been down as a result.

On Saturday, Yannix Volunteers helped to create a scenic backdrop to serve as a Welcoming Point for visitors to the Thung Khru District. The YNX Volunteers built a Sign Board, which will serve to educate and inform visitors of the rich history of the District. The Volunteers constructed a large frame made of eucalyptus and bamboo and also painted coconut shells to hang from the frame as part of a large public mobile where visitors can enjoy scenic views of the local topography.

The overall objective is to work with the local community to establish a “location pin” for Thung Khru so visitors can take photographs and share them on social media to raise awareness about the wonderful district that is Thung Khru.

“YNX Makes ‘FADs’ (Fish Aggregating Devices)”

NA KLUEA, Chonburi Province, Thailand, 22 June 2019

In the morning, Mr. Boon-Ma Kosem and his assistant, Mr. Pasakorn Klongnoi educated the Volunteers about the crisis at hand, and explained how to create/deploy FADs. This morning information period helped prepare the Volunteers for their afternoon work. They were informed that they could start as soon as low tide arrived.

While they waited for low tide, some local fishermen harvested mussels and crabs from the sea, and prepared a wonderful meal to thank the Yannix Volunteers in advance for the hard work that they would be contributing in the afternoon.

With the assistance of the Hydrographics Department of the Royal Thai Navy, sea level was monitored until it was determined that the tide was low enough for the Volunteers to safely perform their duties.

That’s when the Yannix Volunteers, wearing waterproofed suits, walked approximately 1 km. (3.280.84 ft.) through the muddy beach sands into the sea, to plant artificial sea grass. Volunteers dug small holes for planting, and used their feet and hands to secure the artificial grass in place.

The Yannix Volunteers knew before they arrived in Na Kluea that Saturday, June 22, would be no ordinary day at the beach. As such, they worked hard to help to make a difference and they appreciated the opportunity to learn under the direction of Mr. Boon-Ma Kosem and Mr. Pasakorn Klongnoi.

YNX Plants Trees by the Temple
WAT NANG GUI, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, Thailand, 26 May 2019

Wat Nang Gui (Buddhist Monastery) was built 432 years ago in Ayutthaya, the former capital of the Kingdom of Siam (1350-1767).
On Saturday, May 25, Yannix visited Wat Nang Gui for Give It 2 Get It #26. On the day, Yannix volunteers planted 40 perennial plants provided by Professor Prasarn Sangpaiboon (Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University), and 50 bamboo trees (donated by a volunteer group from Chiangrai Province).
Our hope is that the trees we planted on that Saturday will grow to provide an abundance of shade in the sacred place where the monks practice their faith and where the members of the local community assemble.

YNX Club Corner : Badminton Club

[Every month in 2019 we will feature a different Yannix Employee Club]

The YNX Badminton Club was established by Ms. Pensiri “Beer” Janoonis who also coordinates the club’s activities.
The Badminton Club affords it’s members opportunities to exercise, compete, and decompress while spending quality time together away from the workplace after hours.
The YNX Badminton Club currently has 34 members. Customarily, the club meets twice a week after work at the PY Sport Club, which is located in close proximity to the YNX offices.
On the last day of April, the Badminton Club held a “doubles” competition at the Sport Club. The competition was open to all Yannix employees.
When all was said and done, the tandem of Pattarin “King” Thongkasame and Montri “Ball” Sae-Kow emerged as the Tournament Champions.
Congratulations to the champions, King and Ball on their victory.
