Systems Administrator

      Network systems operations such as performance monitoring, configuration, maintenance, and repair. Manages the data center and workstations.

Job Descriptions

  • Performs day-to-day computer and network systems operations such as performance monitoring, configuration, maintenance, and repair. 
  • Develops new application implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability.
  • Establishes, maintains and manages users accounts. Installs, modifies and maintains systems and utility software on server computer systems.
  • Monitor data center and computer host systems including hardware and software. 
  • Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways for the company to take advantage of new technology. 
  • Others as assigned by the Senior Systems Administrator

Key Competencies / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Electronics/Telecommunication Engineering or an IT-related field 
  • Knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu) and Networking. 
  • Mindset of IT security.
  • Able to work with positive attitude.
  • Good team player and have a passion to self improvement.
  • Good analytical, interpersonal communication, and documentation skills.

Senior Systems Administrator

     You will work with an experienced senior system administrator to manage and maintain our technical infrastructure, which includes ~200 workstations, AFS file server, Kerberos, LDAP, software firewall, Router (Cisco) and managed network switch, also remote management to overseas server eg. mail server, chat server.

Job Descriptions

  • Performs day-to-day computer and network systems operations such as performance monitoring, configuration, maintenance, and repair. Ensures that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained. Applies revisions to host system firmware and software. Works with vendors to assist support activities. eg.

  • Identify/Replace failed hard drive, memory, CPU, GPU 

  • Identify network bottleneck and propose cost/performance effective solution. 

  • Task management, delegate task to junior sysadmin to resolve known issue. 

  • Develops new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability. 

  • Implement Kerberos/LDAP authentication with Ubuntu. 

  • Implement single sign-on system with Ubuntu. 

  • Oversee massive file transfer oversea and improve speed/stability.

  • Establishes, maintains and manages users accounts. Installs, modifies and maintains systems and utility software on server computer systems. Provides server support related to other software. 

  • Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources. 

  • Develops tools, procedures, and training sessions for operation staff in how to use new software and hardware developed and/or acquired. Python and C++ are highly prefered. 

  • Manages the data center and computer host systems including hardware, software and equipment such as air-conditioning system, UPS (uninterrupted power system) and fire protection system. 

  • Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways for the company to take advantage of new technology. 

  • Others as assigned by the Head of Facilities and Engineering Dept.

Key Competencies / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Electronics/Telecommunication Engineering or an IT-related field

  • 3-5 years of experience in systems administration on Linux based system

  • Knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu), Networking, and systems integration

  • Able to work independently and with positive attitude

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal communication, and documentation skills

  • Good command of written and spoken English

  • Optional : Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator (LFCS)
