BANGKOK, Thailand, 25 June 2020
The motto of the Hungry Bear Sandwich Society (HBSS) is Ex Panem Laetitia, which in English translates as “The Joy of Bread.”
The HBSS is Yannix’ de facto commissary and it offers a select menu to our employees that includes such signature fare as: Pulled Pork Burgers, Pork Burgers, Beef Burgers, Fried Fish Burgers, Fish & Chips and Ham & Cheese Sandwiches.
All HBSS burgers and sandwiches are served on freshly baked bread and buns (including rolls formed in the shape of a bear), which are homemade on the premises daily. Sides and drinks are also available for purchase.
The HBSS was established on March 25, 2016. Yannix subsidizes daily lunches for staff and the HBSS affords us the ability to feed employees quickly. By using Yannix’ custom Point of Sale (POS) system, employees simply swipe their I.D. badges to easily complete their order transactions.
By early 2019, the HBSS had outgrown its original space. And so the burger and sandwich establishment recently moved into a brand new space that stands approximately 30 yards from the original location. Plans are already under way to further expand the new space as Yannix staff continues to grow.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the HBSS was temporarily closed in accordance with the Thai Government’s social distancing order. But on May 18, 2020, the HBSS re-opened for ‘employees only’ after restrictions were lifted by authorities.
The immediate plan for the HBSS is to expand its menu beyond its core six sandwiches and open up shop to the general public just as soon as remaining COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
