KOH LARN, PATTAYA, Chonburi Province, Thailand, 22 September 2018

Last week was AWARE Week (September 15-23), a global event that includes activities focused on tackling ocean pollution and empowering local communities to take positive actions for the protection of fragile aquatic environments.

Project AWARE, (Aquatic World Awareness Responsibility and Education), has support in over 182 countries and covers such activities as: Dive Against Debris, CoralWatch and the Whale Shark Project. Project AWARE inspires conservation through public awareness and education campaigns.

On Saturday, 22 September, YNX volunteers joined MARINE DIVE Underwater & Beach Clean-Up as part of Yannix’ Give It 2 Get It #20.

More 315.5 kgs of trash were collected from the underwater areas and the beach on Saturday. Glass bottles and cigarette butts were the #1 trash items collected.

Yannix thanks Pattaya City for providing boat support for the volunteer divers at sea and lifeguard services on the beach; Worita Cove Hotel for providing breakfast and dinner for volunteers; SSI Mission Deep Blue for providing mesh trash bags for underwater collection; and Mr. Sarut Chuthasan & the Team from Marine Dive for their continued efforts to make a difference.
